Spilled wine on your table, on your tongues, intertwined with the longing for the other. Sipping and sipping and sipping, until it owns you. Intoxication. Deep intoxication. Spilled wine – remnants of the nervously tickling scenery of seduction.
Me seducing, us.
But all that remains decays. Rotten liquids, rotten lust – I wonder: where are we now?

- fragment of the text by Sophie Fitze, for A Nervous Splendor.

This exhibition grew from a close collaboration between the work of Thomas Hitchcock and myself, conceived as a complete installation, with a subtle yet striking intervention by Rita Nobre responding to the work.

The exhibition can still be viewed until 10.07.2025. Open on weekends from 2-6pm and during the week by appointment.

We would also be happy to welcome you at the Finissage on Thursday, 10.07. between 16h and 20h.

This Sunday, 9th of March, is the opening of my so This Sunday, 9th of March, is the opening of my solo-show “Unplanned Parrothood” at Rhizome in Kortrijk.

09.03.2025 – 20.04.2025

“Parrots were once thought to be brainless. Their imitation of human speech formed the antithesis of creativity and thus remained in the realm of the dumb. However, we must acknowledge their capabilities of reproducing language, and this without having vocal cords. Being able to reproduce sounds is one thing, but to use it to engage with and inform the world around them is another one. Although not always in a direct way, they conceal their announcements in riddles and metaphors, as cage-perch orators. They ring up and answer the phone themselves.”

Location: rhizome_, Koning Albertstraat 2, 8500 Kortrijk, Belgium
Open: Open on Sundays from 2 to 6 pm and by appointment

Briefly Gorgeous, 2014-2024

in Success Evidente (Hidden Tracks), a solo exhibition at @alminerech in Brussels, until March 1st

The show consists of three groups of works.
The second of them is a group of 120 x 100 cm silkscreen on canvas titled Untitled (Briefly Gorgeous), printed in 2014 but dated 2014-2024.

«For Bernadet who believes in the primacy of color, painting is also an act of courtship. In this sensuous game of perception and persuasion, the artist gladly takes on the role of a hustler to keep the heroic tendencies of the medium at bay. In Untitled (Briefly Gorgeous) (2014-2024), a series of black and white silkscreened canvases showing different states of the same photograph of a flamboyant peacock sourced from the New York Public Library’s Picture Collection, the artist shows a healthy willingness to mess with his own discourse. Here is a suite of mechanically produced works where gaudy colors are summoned through their absence.  »

Léa Belooussovitch
On view until March 1st, 2025
The gallery is open from Thursday to Saturday, 11 AM to 6 PM
.
Léa Belooussovitch creates her felt drawings using colored pencils on wool felt, drawing inspiration from media and online images of floods, tsunamis, and torrential rains. She dissolves the forms within the image (by softening lines and blurring contours) and reconnects them differently (through fusion, condensation, and gradation). This process transcends the overwhelming saturation of catastrophic imagery, offering instead a space where the viewer’s eye can breathe.

In a sense, Léa Belooussovitch resists the violence of direct representation by reconfiguring one sensibility into another. She introduces elements of ambiguity and concealment into the visible, shifting the explicit into the implicit. She introduces elements of ambiguity and concealment into the visible, shifting the explicit into the implicit. By «unlocking» the closed-off nature of an image steeped in suffering, she neutralizes its pain and reopens the source material, allowing us to see without directly seeing.

𝘚𝘶𝘣𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 is on view from January 17 - March 1, 2025 at our Brussels gallery.

We are pleased to welcome @nicobourthoumieux as artist-in-residency at Fondation CAB Brussels until March 30, 2025.
During the three months of residency, Nicolas Bourthoumieux plan to use the studio as an open space where certain of his works, along with those of invited artists, will be presented to the public. The display will be regularly changed. Rather than a space for production, the studio will be a place for research and establishing connections. A space open to different point of view. At the center remains the question of the relationship between an object and the space that contains it, and the meaning, as well as the sensations and forebodings, that emerge from this relationship. If sculpture is ontologically linked to space, seemingly abstracting itself from time, we will attempt to explore several hypotheses that bring these four dimensions together.
Also open by appointment.

MÉCANIQUES DISCURSIVES, FRED PENELLE ET YANNICK JACQUET

📍- Botanique

🌟 Less than a month left to see “Casas Muertas” at @m.leuven! 🌟 On view until January 5, 2025 🗓

🌼 I’ll be at the museum tomorrow morning, come say hi! 🌼

“Casas Muertas” bridges my grandmother Vidalina’s garden and house with the theme of uprooting 🏡🌱

Created during my M Residency at @cascoleuven this spring and summer, ‘Querencia’ is now on view

A series of glass and mirror window blinds embedded with photographs of domestic scenes, both interiors and exteriors, as well as flowers I picked in Leuven during my residency. The colors are inspired by the warm colors and light of the sun in El Tigre, Venezuela and Belgian summer at Casco🌡️

📍 M Leuven opens from 11:00–18:00 daily (Thursdays until 22:00, closed Wednesdays)

Hope to see you there! 🌸✨

Special thanks to @amel_omar_ @kyararilov for their help and to @vandijkenglass for making this possible 🤍
