Charlotte Peys is currently studying illustration at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts. She studied Arts & Culture at the University of Maastricht (2005 – 2008) and Cultural Studies at the University of Leuven (2008 – 2009). Charlottes work has a strong basis in observation and research and is always related to her impressions of the world around her. Her work is motivated by authenticity and spontaneity and her materials include traditional media such as gouache, colored pencils and oil pastels used in a personal and almost occasional and brutal way. Charlotte illustrates to memorize, to collect, to tell stories, to categorize and to investigate. She illustrates because she doesn’t know (anything) better.
